QUICK LICKS #32 4 NOTE PER STRING TAPPING WITH FRET TRAVEL INTRO:FOUR NOTES PER STRING TAPPING WITH FRET TRAVEL!! Let's do some tapping! If you did QUICK LICKS #31 then you are in luck. This is also a four note per string type of tapping lick, just like 31. However, this one will not use all of the strings as 31 did. Instead we are going use some "Fret Travel" or just moving our hands along the fret board to multiple positions. The HAMMER PULL is very important here. The right hand has to TAP/HAMMER and then PULL OFF which leads to the next note in the sequence. Then the next note is pulled off as well which leads to the open string note. Following that, we reverse the order of the two left hand notes and do each as a "Hammer On" using the left hand only. So we are doing some "left hand only tapping" in this as well. Muting is key here. Only the HIGH E is being played so mute every other string. *Make sure to watch the vid!. *NOTE: Keep your mute so that you don't get string noise. Use both hands to mute! *Here is Guitar Pro Tab for Quick Licks 32 BACKGROUND / COMMENTS This is a stand alone drill/lick. It's meant to be played by itself as it's not really a scale. It's for practicing your tapping and muting using an open string and some shifting hand positions. 32.gp5 ( 2.11K ) Number of downloads: 129 BTW: Please let me know if you have any questions about this lick, send me a PM if you like or post here. I'm happy to help! This post has been edited by Todd Simpson: Jun 23 2018, 05:50 PM |

I'm on it buddy,
Also working on #13 which is more of a memory test for me than anything -------------------- SEE MY GMC CERTIFICATE “Success is not obtained overnight. I ALWAYS give extra points for GUITAR FACE!!! Including GUITAR TONGUE!!! I deduct points for "DEAD FACE" which makes the audience think that the player is not enjoying him/herself and that's a Cardinal Sin!!! One might as well put Fluence Pickups in a Gold Top Vintage Gibson!! The twain were never meant to meet. Anyhoo! More Guitar Face!!
On to your lick. Let me say NICELY DONE!! This is NOT an easy bit to pull off. The purpose is mostly to get you used to keeping good string mute while still being able to move your hands about back and forth on the neck instead of up and down like the previous tapping lesson. You NAILED IT!! I don't hear string noise so YOU GOT IT!!! Also, this is about using that first finger to not only HAMMER ON but also to PULL OFF and using the left hand to make strikes. You got all of this in one pass. NICE!!! The only gripe I'd have and it's a small one (doesn't really merit another pass imho) is that the tablature uses the REPEAT staff so each position is meant to be played four times instead of two, however, upon hearing it, it works just fine being done twice and four is probably too much anyway. After all, this is QUICK LICKS! not BOOTCAMP!!! I'm not here to give you finger torture! That's what BOOTCAMP is for!!! In short, you obviously have a very good handle on your tapping/hammering/muting. Which is what this one is all about. Super congrats there. Try to use this type of tapping in a solo asap, just grab a youtube backing and try to work it in. You don't have to use these notes. You can use any scale you want, in any key you want. You can use the scale generator to see where the notes of a given scale lay on the neck and then build your tapping lick around that. So if you grab a youtube backing in E Minor, go to the scale generator and do the full neck in E Natural Minor. Then pick which notes you want to hammer. I'd say use the open E, use the 12th fret E and just use your own instincts to fill in the rest and experiment!! As for this one, stick a fork in it, it's DONE!!!
