I really need to disagree with about 90% of you guys on this one. I've tried alot of the extremely expensive cables, to my ears zero difference and when you're playing at rehearsals at high volumes it doesn't matter anyways. Second off, any cable I have ever bought in the eight years of my playing have broken eventually. I've tried extremely cheap cables to extremely expensive cables. First off, Monster cables are a complete and TOTAL rip off. It's a life time guarantee but you need to save the receipt. When the cable breaks, you can send it the cable with the receipt - when the new cable it sent back to you your receipt doesn't come with it! So you can only replace it once. They're a total ripoff.

The best cable I have ever found was a coiled one from radioshack that has endured about 5 years of constant use without breaking.

These are the best value cables: http://accessories.musiciansfriend.com/pro...able?sku=330470
They also have a life time warranty but are more reasonably priced. When they break (and I assure you they will eventually) you can easily resolder the connections as well.

I haven't used monster cables, but I used various cables on stage&at home and I can say that cables die out pretty fast, specially of you carry them around a lot, step on them, connect them often. They most often loose contact on the plug part, and you have to have robust cables for performance. It is a real gamble to use cheap ones, as I experienced few unpleasant times.

Planet Waves are great cables, BUT they have this stupid ass "spring retention" system on the plugs that eventually ends up messing up any jack they go into. I've had to replace the jack on my RG8127 and I think the input on my Pandora is busted as well. Hence why I stopped using them.

Spring retention? You mean those little metal "barrels" that prevent the plug from disconnecting?
never had problems with these as well. But the cables can and will die out on contacts after a while of regular abusing..
