Hey..

I want to make my fender strat classic player a bit more versatile so I'm putting an humbucker on it in the bridge..
I will order one from Guitarfetish.com .. the pick up was to blend in nicely w/ the cs 69's that will be on neck and midlle so it can´t have too much output.. i was thinkin on a vintage 59 classic alnico V but there are some others that may be better for me like the Crunchy Pat or the gfs Classic II alnico ..

What do you guys think would be a better pick up for the bridge position on my strat?

I don't know much about pickups but I have put a DiMarzio Chopper in my strat bridge position and I never been disapointed. I am not sure for the output, but I find that on my guitar it blends well with the other pups.

I looked at the picture after posting biggrin.gif

I realized afterwards that you wanted a full size humbucker.

Good luck in your quest I find it hard to shop fore some pickups since you can't try them.

I've heard good things about the Crunchy Pat, but never tried it. The VEH (Vintage Extra Hot) from GF looks interesting as well, and they are made from alnico V magnets, instead of ceramic like the Crunchy Pats. The VEH also has slightly less output, which would make it a little more versatile. On paper, I'd say the VEH looks like the preferable pickup.

You may also want to check out the Tonerider pickups. They're slightly more expensive, but they sound great. Check out their Rocksong and Generator humbucker pickups.

It depends what you want from your guitar. If you have vintage style singles, it may be a good idea to get vintage or moderate output hum. If you take hot hum for the bridge, it won't match that nicely in sound with those singles. I use Dimarzio Air Norton in my bridge position, and it's a cool moderate output hum. If you play lot of hard rock, rock or metal, you would perhaps want something stronger than that.
