Hey !
I just tried to change the neck pickup (INF 3) as I hardly use it mainly because I don't like the tone at all. So I bought a Di marzio Humbucker D Activator Neck F- Spaced and try to change it for the first time in my life. The results have been awful huh.gif Instead of 3 wires I came across 5 plus the choices were: Standard Humbucking series wiring, Standard parallel wiring, dual sound with single-coil switching, phase switch, treble compensation, component values. huh.gif (no clue at all)

I touched every single cable with the soldering iron including my finger (ouch). Anyway the thing is. If it's gonna be your first time and have no clue about electronics better think twice. Luckily I found someone who's gonna do it for me.

Standard Humbucking series wiring would have probably been fine wink.gif, unless you have a switch somewhere for coil tapping. The other wiring options aren't used that much.

This digram might comfort you a bit smile.gif

EDIT: I see you have a HSH so do what I did, write DiMarzio support and ask for a wiring diagram for your model.

yup, two of them you usually solder together and tape off (leaving you three smile.gif ) unless as Zakk says you want to put in a coil tap.

should be a wiring diagram with your pup or there are plenty available on the net smile.gif

I know you learn by doing...but if it is your first time, and you have no clue about wiring...I suggest having someone who knows do it, and watch them while they can explain it to you. Some techs aren't willing to do this, but you should be able to find someone who will help you if you ask around.

You have to start somewhere, really. I changed the pick ups on my 7 stringed Schecter a couple of years back. At first it the sound came out really weird, so I figured I had done something wrong - then you just go back to the soldering iron and try something else, no big deal if it's only connecting the wrong wires, I'd say smile.gif
