Greetings to everyone!
Im a 18 year old guy from Norway who plays the guitar..obviously ! ^^
I started playing bass guitar about 6-7 years ago and im still active
3 years ago i decided to start playing guitar after learning the intro of stairway to heaven, and on from then i've played pretty darn frequently except for some "pauses" due to lack of motivation, i mean, go pick up that guitar and play if you want to, right? You shouldnt push yourself to play the guitar if you don't want to, then you can risk ruining your relationship to the instrument ;D

I play in two bands, in one of them my role is bass player[band1], in the other one I'm lead guitar[band2]
We play different styles, [band1] plays pretty unique/original music in my opinion.. I do not know if I'm able to define the genre, but something really instrumental which can be associated with Pink Floyd, tame impala, herbie hancock and other psychedelic, jazz, funk, rock elements smile.gif
[band2] is more traditional rock sound where we experiment with every sub genre beyond Rock'nRoll!

I listen and enjoy almost every music genre that is, rap and dubstep, house, jazz, funk, pop, rock, metal, reggae and so on.
Im really fond of artists such as Led Zeppelin(!!!), Deep purple, Queen, Radiohead, Dungen, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, John Coltrane, Santana, Soilwork.. the list goes on! smile.gif

What I really like to do when I play guitar is to put on a song/backingtrack and just play melody, solo licks and improvise, I dont play a lot of covers, mainly my own material.
I might as well add that I don't know anything about music theory. I know the minor pentaton scale and thats it. I bet I play a lot of other scales when I do my improvisation thing, but these scales is played by my fingers , and not because I see any pattern in my head.

With this said, my goals for the future is indeed to learn a lot more about music theory, as I already "play from my heart" I think I can grow a lot on knowing and being aware of what Im actually doing ^^, I really fancy the Scale generator on this site, and im also an believer of that forum posts, and theory and scale explanation in video lessons will help me a lot. Also my next steps is to learn to play Jazz guitar, both chords and soloing, I found some very interesting videos by Stephane. And also learning different styles of playing by checking out the Jimi Hendrix, Zeppelin, Richie Blackmore and other "in the style of" videos!

I play on a Schecter Tempest Extreme, which was the electrical guitar I bought when i started playing, in other words nothing special. In addition I have a half-acoustic Martin DCX1E which I'm really fond of, and a Fender Jazz Bass. I just recently bought a midi keyboard and I'm also in the process of learning how to play sax laugh.gif

Just want to tell how impressed I am with this community, it seems like there's only kind hearted people in here, and GMC' mods and teachers who really spend a lot of time and effort with their community, on the forums in addition to making really great video lessons!! this is really a great site! Looking forward to getting to know people around here in the forums, and perhaps make new friends, See ya'all around! biggrin.gif
