Muris,

What is the fastest you can pick 6 notes per beat at, and what exercises helped you attain that?

Anthony

I never really calculate it cause it varies a lot,
depends on notes you play, fingering, does it involves string skipping etc,
I never tried to play 8th triplets on single string and count it,
probably somewhere between 160-180 bpm, just guessing, no idea really! smile.gif

And best exercise would be to practice the very same thing, 8th triplets, over and over.
With triples the easiest way is to play 3nps shapes for easier coordination
but you can challenge your self by playing 2nps or 4nps while keeping triplet timing.
It's not only the challenge but it'll also sound more interesting music wise.
It's not about speed after all, it's about music.
Let speed be the tool only for creating cool music, do not let it take control. smile.gif

Well I meant over 2 strings. In extreme neo you do it over like 5 strings at 150 bpm. And while I know it is not about speed, I am very much inclined to reach my maximum possible speed in order to be able to do it at any moment to use it to my very best advantage.

Then go for it!!!
I usually always use some real lick as an exercise,
seems to me kind a waste of time to practice random notes or chromatic
when you can do double job bu playing lick, technique and theory in use.
You can take some licks from Extreme Neo-Classic or just any other licks that you like
and practice them as much as you can, no other way. smile.gif
