To be honest it was truly impressive from a technical standpoint.

But as music? ha! it sounded like his guitar was dying! laugh.gif

Yeah, I slowed it down and had a look - guys, he's using EXACTLY the same notes as all of us ! How hard can it be to play like that ? Oh, wait, he has the 7th string ... so THAT's why I can't play like Rusty Cooley unsure.gif

Actually… yes and no in my experience. When he’s going at absolute warp speed with the sweeps the descent is often muddy. Not that it matters… because at those speeds he’s already got the sound he wants to get the music across. I’ve also been told that when he starts picking from the elbow he gains about one and a half n.p.s. in speed but loses cleanliness. Once again, that’s hard to decipher without slowing the audio down.

Anyways, I filmed Rusty live a few minutes away from my house when his band Outworld did their most recent show. I also filmed a preview of Rusty's new Dean during a lesson.

Oh man, Outworld is awesome, some sick ass riffs and Rusty Cooley is a fantastic guitarists, most people think all he plays is balls out shred like the videos of his 8 String Demo, but if they listened to Outworld, they could just how good he really is
