Unfortunately I cannot solo to save my life, so the solo parts are just noise. I really didn't even try to learn them, and soloing isn't my forte. Your rhythm chops sound uber tight! A guitarist that has good rhythm can develop good lead skills It is compulsory as I see it, so we'll just take it step by step. Still getting the fingering strength up, but as I'm here to check in, any tips you can give me on a nice metal tone? I don't like to use too high a gain, since it loses the natural sound of the string, but without the gain you don't get the distortion. Using an ESP LTD 401 with 60n/81b. That's how I'd do it and usually, tweak the highs, mids and bass, gain on a particular amp model you will use in the Guitar Rig 5. So with the pre-amp, you just go Guitar -> Preamp -> Computer? Or Guitar -> Preamp -> Amp -> Mic -> Computer? I ask because while I enjoy the software modelling, it doesn't emulate the FEEL of the playing that I'm looking for. Something that's evident in any of Megadeth's music.
