Just curious. I love this community and I am sure there are more than a couple folks who are well versed in the subject.

LoL. I know the feeling. I do not know if it is a good thing that there are 200 people in my lecture and our professor makes me look kind. :-)

At least people do not waste time asking him stupid questions but I dunno how I could handle upper level chemistry with the internet and discussion forums.

I have a ph.d I met that is always willing to help! It is awesome, so I figure I ask around in case I need help and my Chem Doc is not around for help.

Hey, the guy from queen has his Ph.D in Astrophysics. You never know, Ivan maybe a Engineer. :-)

FWIW I did both my first degree and first post grad in analytical chemistry. I managed an analytical lab for about 10 years that specialised in ultra low level GCMS, LCMS and MS/MS but have been out of the loop for a long time although I'm still chartered. My specialism in chemistry was never organic though.

Entering my last year of Biomedical Science at the mo. Not quite the full organic chemistry you're looking for.

Cool Tony, didn't know you were into chemistry as well. I have a masters in chemical engineering smile.gif

Back on subject, I don't really like like organic chemistry though, it's been so many years since I studied that specific part that I have forgotten most of them reactions laugh.gif Analytical chemistry was more interesting. But we engineers focused more on reactors & indutrial chemistry I guess.

I liked general/ analytical chemistry but yea, organic is a different beast. I am a biomed major, so something around medicine would be in my future: Unless I can re-incarnate the bad-boy rock band here, state side.

My first degree was in Chemistry, I went on to study condensed matter physics, I've worked as a research chemist and analytical scientist for a couple of industries and I'm currently writing up my doctoral thesis on conducting polymer sensor technology.. so yeah, I like my chemistry!

laugh.gif Not many mate. It's a consequence of switching subject areas from natural sciences through to social sciences and then finally philosophy at post grad I guess biggrin.gif . At one point I was kind of collecting qualifications and letters wink.gif .

Fran - same with me for organic. smile.gif I pretty much got through the little bit of chem eng that we had to do at u/g by relying on being able to do the maths.
