Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

I decided to use the backing track with the second guitar in the background because it accompanies the pre-chorus. Should I post a take without the second guitar in the backing?

Hi Skalde!

Good job here! There are basically three things that I think need some focus during the next days of practice. The first one is timing. Try to focus on going tighter with the backing track when changing chords and combining power chords with single note riffs.

Besides timing, I think that both the chords and riff can sound more consistent and cleaner. Put some focus on the sound of each chord and note. Notice the use of dynamics (different intensities) as an expression tool and polish that riff at 00:43 to make it sound cleaner.

Finally, I recommend you to using other fingers to help the one that is doing vibrato. For example, if you are pressing and doing vibrato with finger 3, you can use 2 and maybe 1 to have more strength. Check out some guitarists doing vibrato and you'll see what I mean.

That's all by now mate, keep on the hard work! smile.gif

Now I can see it!! Well played!!! I think you have the feel and vibe of the track. Also, it's good to see you using full vibrato. Like your other vid it's no tepid or weak. It's nice and wide. I see you using one finger in some of the vibrato which is a good thing to be able to do. Also try to use more than one finger sometimes for more power in the vibrato. It's best to be able to use one finger or multiple fingers just depending on what is being played and how you want it to sound.

Good strikes by your picking hand. Not weak or soft, good strong pick strikes. Your hand synch is good as well. This is a good lessons to pick for your current level. It's one that you can play and learn a bit from. I think you are ready to tackle one from the next level if you want to!
I do notice a pinch of lag on your playing in spots but it's not enough to prevent me from enjoying your take. I can hear that you are playing this with feeling and intent, which is crucial. Well done. Solid 8 from me.
Todd

Cool - another neat choice, this backing was also a lot of fun collabing over!

My previous feedback applies here as well- if timing is an issue this lesson will be a little challening. Again i would recommend you check out something straight like this one:
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Basic-Rock-Rhythm-2/

Just like the other one the feel is good, but timing is a little off and there are audible mess-ups (ie the riff starting at 00:41). You get a 7 from me, keep up the good work!

Hey there!

First of all - that's a very cool choice of lesson. Lot's of great stuff that is reasonably easy but still gives some joy and demands some attention and time.

Answering your question - it is usually better to avoid using additional guitar tracks because they cover your main guitar part and makes it a little harder to capture all the details for rec purpose. Sometimes it's cool if you can add the additional guitars for your own youtube channel and promotion but you can make not public video embed in rec, that will have different audio mix(no additional guitars besides the ones from original backing...if there are any).

1st tip.....do you have a piece of cheap guitar cable/ damaged cable or cable you are not afraid to waste? If yes you can cut the pieces and put them inside the springs of your tremolo system. You will get rid of that nasty noise you get at each break/pause.

2nd tip - your vibrato mechanics are on a good path. You did your homework and it looks like you know what to focsu at. There is one single thing you need to improve. Use all the fingers behind the fretting one. This way you will use more than one finger to bend the string and the strength will split making things much easier smile.gif Of course it doesn't apply for index finger.

When you get to the first riff (after open powerchords) you are slightly off with the timing. Fisrt you mute the powerchord too late than you start next lick a little too late as well. I don't need to get into details becasue once you repeat the riff things get on their place wink.gif
