Hey Muris,

How are things? Well I have started your mixolydian soloing lesson and may I say this lesson is just wonderful smile.gif I don't have much experience with modes... yet wink.gif .... but I must say I'm really loving the different feel to this lesson. I just have a couple of very quick and somewhat simple questions though.

First in videos 1 and 6, is it just a hammer on/pull off on the grace notes? And second for videos 2 and 3 is it a trill you use? I haven't really tried Trill's before to be honest and am not 100% sure how to do them but am I right in saying that your basically just doing a really rapid hammer on/ pull off between two notes?

I hope all is well with you Muris and we must try to chat soon... it has been quite a while smile.gif

Hey Rok,good to hear from you and I'm glad
you're in a mood for some modes! smile.gif

So,one at the time.
Video 1 contains simple grace note.
main note is 8th fret and you just play
7th fret a milisecond before it,hammer on is
way to connect these two notes.
In video 6 is same deal,7th fret is main one and 6th is the grace.

In videos 2 and 3 we have thrills indeed but the simplest ones,
only one hammer-on and one pull-off,
usually thrills require more motions like this.
But rapid hammer-pull is explanation I would you for this situation as well.
However these thrills might be considered as ornaments as well,
cause main note is the first one in thrill and then you just
add one note higher and release it to main note. smile.gif

3 video might be problem cause you have to do it with your pinky tho
but it's good exercise for the most weak finger in our arsenal!

Hope this helps a bit. smile.gif

Excellent Muris that helps a lot smile.gif I wasn't sure how many times you did the hammer on on the trills in this lesson... I had been doing more then one so I guess this is why it didn't sound right tongue.gif smile.gif But in video 3 I thought you used your ring finger for the trill? That is how I practiced it... but it will certainly be trickier with the pinky but good exercise like you said.

Thank you very much for the help. You rock man smile.gif

Thanks Muris. I've really clicked with this lesson actually. After you clarified things for me I went back and played it again and I must say I'm really pleased with myself. I don't have it mastered by any stretch of the imagination, still some things to tighten up for sure, but for a first kick at the can so to speak it wasn't too bad.

Thanks again for the help.

You're most welcome.

I would suggest you to record a video clip if possible
so we could discus further if needed.
I mean,it's always easier to give advice after you SEE things. smile.gif

I will certainly try Muris... I haven't had much luck in the recording department. I am very much a noob at it. Not really sure what to do... I have a PodXT and have tried using Garageband but I'm really not sure how to use it. I've been reading through Tony's Reaper lessons so I may try that and see what happens. smile.gif I don;t have a camera for video as there was an incident this winter... kinda got run over by a skidoo blink.gif smile.gif

No rush at all Rok,
take your time and practice hard until you
figure out those softwares and eventually get a camera. smile.gif
