In this Quick Lick, we use our Open String technique combined with a Minor Scale. The open string gives it a pedal pointe neoclassical vibe. Also, the open string doesn't need to be fretted so it just needs a pick strike combined with the 3 fretted notes to yield a four note per string style scale run. It makes things sound like you are playing much faster than is actually required. Stealth Shred!!
Here is the vid.

This lick works on any string. Give it a whirl!

NICE!!!!! I dig that you do the picked version and then a left hand focused version. Both of them sound cool. This lick works on any string and with any scale! major/minor/phrygian, etc. Just get the scale steps (half, whole, whole/ etc. ) on any give open string using the open string as the root note and bam. Single string licks galore. Solid muting here as well. Made it look easy!!!!!!

In other words you FREAKING KRUSHED IT!!!!!!

and Leveled up!!!

Bingo!!! That's the stuff!! This is yet another open string lick that can work on every string as a great way to get your fingers moving when they are stiff and cold and don't want to respond. I find that sometimes in winter months I need a bit more warm up time for my hands than usual. Especially if it's cold. Since it's the same frets on every string, it makes it a bit easier to deal with than running drills that change non stop. Those are great as well, just after a quick warm up smile.gif Well played!!! You just..
LEVELED UP!!!!

I love open string licks. There are several quick licks based on this idea. You get a free note with each open string and it's a pedal tone holding it all together. You can run any scale you want on an open string, major, minor, harmonic minor, etc. just make sure the scale you pick is in the key of one of the open strings and bam! let's debrief!1

Well done. You just..

LEVELED UP!!!!
