Problem With New Wah Pedal

I bought a Zakk Wylde signature wah pedal today. I'm not too familiar with using a wah but I think I have the basic idea. I think the one I bought may be defective or something because I find it doesn't really wah past the 12th fret on the high e string, when I lift the pedal up instead of the note sustaining it pretty much just goes out, so like if I'm doing a fast solo in e minor at the 12th fret, if I'm doing a run on the high strings the volume just starts getting out as if I didn't even play the note, is this normal? I hope the store will take it back sad.gif

I had the same problem with my CryBaby. I realized that I didn´t push the button strong enough. Just push it so strongly that the typical wah background comes (a little buzzing or so).
Another reason for this problem could be that your battery is conected wrongly or is simply too weak.

Do you power your wah with adapter or with battery? If battery try to replace it. Also it may be the problem with your guitar, wah works well usually only when you give it a nice trebly signal to work with it. If you give it bassy signal (liek from neck pickup) and play beyond 12th fret, sometimes it won't work.

thanks for the responses, I brought it back today and got a vox 847, I think it's a little more versatile for me anyway, the zakk wylde has a really metal sound which is great but it seemed like I would have needed a different wah down the line for more of a wah wah sound

Thats a good choice...Also you can avoid signature gear unless you are into the sound of the exact guitarist...That Vox should work well smile.gif
