Skipping Triplets, (metronome training)

Hey there!

I am planning to skip triplets in my metronome training because they are so !&@% annoying. Will I regret it later? rolleyes.gif

8th triplets are 3 notes in a beat. 16th triplets are 6 notes in a beat.

I like to refer to it as "three notes in time of two notes". E.g: 3 eighth notes triplet will be played in the time of 2 eighth notes. For 16th notes, it is the same etc. etc.

Same goes for other kind of tuplets as well.

Duplet = 2 notes in time of 3
Triplet = 3 notes in time of 4
Quintuplet = 5 notes in time of 4
"Six"-tuplets = 6 notes in time of 4, which is basically the same as triplets
"Seven"-tuplets = 7 notes in time of 4
"Nine"-tuplets = 9 notes in time of 8

I cannot recall the correct names for six and above tuplets, but I geuss most will refer to them as what I have written above.

EDIT: Seven might be septuplets actually, and nine nonuplets, but I'm not too sure.

You could regret it, cause if you don't practice them, they will not show later in your playing. I suggest to practice them, it will be no harm believe me, you can only benefit from it smile.gif
