GMC Forum _ PRACTICE ROOM _ What's This Effect?

Posted by: Iluha Nov 24 2008, 07:53 PM

What effect does the guitarist use during the verses? sounds to me like a super automatic wah wah =p
I also heard Mikael from Opeth use it in one song.. forgot what song that was.

Sounds to me like delay, with a high feedback time

To me it sounds like wah-wah plus tremolo... Perhaps the wah-wah is automatic, since it is always very timely...

I am not an effect specialist though tongue.gif

Sounds to me like auto-wah and tremolo timed to 16th note triplets

Or 8th note triplets, if the click is twice as fast

Ah... never thought of using a tremelo at such a low pace... I will defintly give it a try! thanks!

Sounds like rotary to me.

It's wah, he's just playing it in time, it's not so difficult to do.

Tremolo effect is also there for sure. The volume alternating is evident.

Iv'e seen this act live, twice, it's an auto wah tongue.gif and the sound is too clean for it to just be a wah wah, so slow paced tremelo sounds right to me.

yup,
an autowah along with tremolo, chorus and some delay.

Very Sound Garden-ish great band wink.gif

It can be done with a real wah wah as well, that's what I'm saying wink.gif

That guy's voice is flippin cool!
You can reproduce this with an Auto wah or wah-wah
Because it is a slow tempo track it is definately possible to play different rhythms on the wah manually.
It just takes some practice.
Another way to create a similar effect would be to toggle your tone knob at the desired rhythm.
