We all know how hard it is to make it in the Music business... I know I'll never make it, but I still enjoy and love playing guitar a ton. I basically breath and sleep guitar, from the time I wake up, to go to sleep, I'm playing guitar... It is probably the most rewarding thing for me, I just love it, i wish I could really join a Metal band and get stuff going to make it in this music business! Unfortunately I'm stuck here on this little island known as St. Croix, USVI. Where I'm isolated around untalented rap artists and country music...It really affects my playing...I often get angry because they are soooo many talented people in this world, and all the wrong people get to be famous..it's not fair, but then again...everyone deserves a chance and support from other people....I feel it's just the right thing to do...espcially if you know the person...Just, why not support them? Are you that bad minded to not help a friend out? Are you jealous of the person or someting?...idk...that's just some of the questions I usually ask myself...

But anyway...I'm really here to ask for your help. As you know I really-really love guitar, and only want to get better at it...so if your reading this please help me out...Everyone deserves a chance...it's not like I'm automatically going to get famous or something. I'm actually working my butt of making music 24/7! I just hope my dreams come true, and I'll always remember the people that looked out for me...the people that really showed a heart when I'm not feeling well. Real friends, I got your back, I'm hoping you got mind...

The music industry is a tough one whatever you do - musician, sound engineer, producer, A&R... Sadly it's not all about talent. Contacts, who you know and who know you is really important and makes a big difference. Reputation is a big thing and it takes a long time to build a good one but it can be lost very quickly. So because of that always act professionally and treat people the way you want to be treated .

My words my feel empty but the internet has made a big twist on the music industry. There are new ways to "make it on the industry" that weren't available to people.

He built his youtube channel around 2006 and he's still working hard on it, 6 years later.

You have to deliver content on youtube and on your webpage, which you haven't publish. In my personal opinion, I support those people who deliver me with great content, for example Rob Chapman, Justin Guitar or GMC. You have 3 videos on your youtube channel? Aren't you a little too green to start asking for support? Why don't you make instructional youtube lessons? How to achive a Djent sound? A review of your gear? The list is endless? Why not take a "crappy song" and turn it into an amazing Djent song? Do you see the popular list of youtube guitar videos?

Hi Isiah. I like you a lot and I believe you've got the desire in there to make the changes necessary however I'm going to do the kindest thing I could do and tell you that your language is all wrong. You can play all the guitar in the world and get all the FB followers, YT subscribers but you're killing your own success by using the language of a loser and a victim. That's not what you are but it's not me who has to see it, it's you.

When people say 'I hope' it means 'I'm putting my future in somebody else's hands, I don't really believe in myself'

There is a way to get off that island but you've got to want it enough to find it. All you've got to do is decide and commit fully to that decision. That's actually the hardest part. All the pieces you need and all the opportunities and steps you need to take along the way will be presented to you at the appropriate times. All you need to do when they occur is just step up to them and do it when they ask you to. But it's the decision that sets it all in motion.

The world wants to help everybody out.. but if you send it mixed messages the world sees 'He wants it.. no he doesn't want it.. he wants it.. no he's not really serious, he said he'd never make it anyway...'

When you send out a definite message of 'I want this and I know I'll do what I need to' then you stop using the language of a victim and you start speaking the language of someone who knows what they want and that they can get it.

It ain't easy.. but nothing in life worth doing is easy.

Everything is created twice. First in the mind, then it manifests in the material world. Our mind creates the situations we want out of life if we use it. This might seem weird and wacky to most people but that's ok, let them miss out. The bottom line is, most of us instinctively know that all this is true but it's too hard for most so they don't do it and don't believe in it. Instead they blame their outside circumstances and other people for holding them back when the truth is they've had a free reign all this time and they haven't taken it out of their own fear.

The music industry is changing but we forget that everything in life changes. Nothing stays the same. We shouldn't blame the way things are though, or we're relinquishing our own power of choice. I don't know about you guys but if I don't reach my potential then I know it's not Lady Gaga's fault.. it's mine isn't it ?

Watch a few Arnold videos, maybe get hold of a great book called The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho and start changing your language around so it's working for you, not against you

Listen to what Arnold says near the beginning when he talks about doing exhibitions.

Everything you've said is true, and I was a bit skeptical about asking for help on my Channel and Facebook, but I just posted this anyway.... I DO plan on making instructional videos on how to achieve a Djent sound...there's a ton of things that I wished I knew when I started to play guitar, and that's what I'm focusing on right now.. I plan to do some gear reviews that are harldly on youtube, I plan to explain things deeper in recording and what helped me out...I know exactly what I have to do... I'm just waiting on my Line 6 POD HD Pro to start making some more videos!!! Thanks for your input though

Sounds like a plan One thing I would say is, waiting never helped anyone get anything. So while you are waiting on gear to come in, think about what sort of videos you can make today, right now, short 2 minutes, just vids you can do now and start putting things up. Any experience, tips, etc. can make a good vid So start now and whenever new gear shows up, so much the better

Man it is a very good topic! I think I have made it in the music industry and so far having a successful career but even than it is very hard to stay on top of it and keep getting gigs! Especially when you are in transition between jobs! It is very hard to be sure if you have made the right decision and won't loose in the end! Every little thing counts starting with your look ending with shoes you are wearing! It's very tough! I can't gain weight or change my look without consulting with my manager I actually gained a few pounds recently and gigs slowed down! Now I am back in shape and it is picking up again! I liked your page and will support you as much as I can! Good luck!

Asking for help is a good sign as it shows you do want to do something about improving yourself

One thing I would say about it is that I think people are quite willing and happy to help other people, especially when the person asking is asking from a genuine, good place. As long as you never allow yourself to include self pity or moaning about the state of the music biz in your contact with other people, then people will be drawn towards you. I always find that when people are complaining that they repel people who would otherwise have normally helped them. I see a lot of it on Facebook. We all know that the music biz is hard, but nobody really wants to hear us complain about it. So, as long as you remember to keep your interactions with people positive then they will be drawn to you, which I think is something that you're naturally good at

I can use myself as an example.. I was drawn to give my time and thought to you but if you were a bitter, angry person complaining, I would not have done so because my words would have been wasted. So only let the good shine through so people see that side of you !

That makes sense too Todd. I was planning on blogging my Tips and stuff, but making videos will attract more attention and be fast....Makes so much sense. I think I'll start making them and put them up every Tuesday or so...idk What do ya think?




With that being said I think "I wanna be my own manager"....haha But if I happen to get someone good enough then so be it, but that seems a bit stressful at some points... I know I can do it though, the only problem is that I like playing live, and NO ONE listens to Metal hear. I'll just be internet know at some point and have couple gigs, but I haven't really found anyone hear that listens to Metal... I'll have to make a major adjustment in the music I play if I want to start getting gigs... Thanks for your help though, I appreciate every like and Sub to my pages... Those numbers really make me happy, and it's what really keeps me going for now!

Haha...I don't ever really complain about that stuff. I usually just find my way around and keep my spirit up, but the reason I said I don't think I can make it is because where I live. I want to get Live gigs, not just known on the Youtube and stuff... I haven't really found anyone that listens to Metal where I live, mostly reggae, blues, country, rap, and dancehall and calypso (if you kinow what those are) But like I said I'll find my way around it
PS: I'm a very good persuasive speaker...haha I'm doing well with English
