check out this cover of an old tune by the Police. It does involve a good sized orchestra and good quality back up vocals. But some folks thing the guy is just butchering a classic tune. The audience is packed with awkward looks for sure. Sting seems a bit like he might want to puke. It doesn't sound much like the original, but it does sound like the guy doing the cover. What do you guys think? is it good? is he wrecking it?

It's stylistically Jose Feliciano 100%.
He's definitely getting older and his pitch isn't what it used to be but he's doing it 'his' way.
*Jose can play back to you any tune he's ever heard with just one listen and never forgets anything.

I didnt think it was bad at all just really different. not sure about the guitar solo part but other than that I thought it was an interesting version.
It was funny watching Sting process it smile.gif Im sure he knew what to expect though.

I have always liked Feliciano and Sting as well. My issue is more about the song itself. I have always thought that the lyrics were a bit creepy. It's like a stalkers ballad. ph34r.gif

Here he is when he more "on his game" doing California Dreamin into Light My fire.
You can hear the stylistic/interpretation similarities ...

I hear it smile.gif I see what you mean, he's just doing "his" version of it, the way he always has. It was funny watching Stings face smile.gif

I know right? Folks playing this at weddings always seemed odd. If you listen to the lyrics, the guy in the song is a pinch over the line and stalking some poor gal. Then again, there is a sarah mclachlan tune (arms of the angels) about a "working girl" at the end of her shift partaking in a respite involving a hypodermic needle. It's about using heroin to escape the cruelties of reality, essentially. But folks just hear the chorus section. smile.gif
