You mean like orchestra instruments? Those instruments are much harder to self-teach than guitar, bass, etc. Usually you have to have a live teacher for proper technique, because if you don't have it, there is basically no chance you will be no good, whereas guitarists don't necessarily have to have proper technique but it helps a lot. Plus you have to be able to read music and learn intonation which isn't even an aspect of guitar.
