How many days would you consider are too many before you start losing whatever progress you did recently? how long have you been without practicing?
I feel that after 5 days or a week I start feeling a bit of a loss in my dexterity but then it comes back like riding a bike -------------------- Visit my:

I have found that I can tell a difference in my playing after about 3 days no practice time. I usually pick it back up again pretty quickly though, but for the first 30 min or so, its usually kinda sloppy.

There was time when I was 3-4 weeks without practice, but I was always playing. Never worried me tho, 1-2 days of focused practice returns me in full shape.
PS Often these periods were beneficial in a way that my technique and tone got polished up. This post has been edited by Ivan Milenkovic: Jul 14 2011, 09:02 PM -------------------- - Ivan's Video Chat Lesson Notes HERE

I took a break of 6+ months. Took about 1-2 months to get back.
I was visualizing a lot (during daytime when I was away from the guitar), so that helped get back on track quickly. Breaks are good. I recommend them. Maybe not as long as I took but 2 weeks to a month can do wonders. -------------------- "If the need is deep, you WILL find a way , if it isn't, you'll find some excuse"

mm difficult question! I think that I haven't been more than 2 or 3 days without playing the guitar for more than 15 years... but I've been composing a lot... it means that I was playing the guitar but not practicing or studying...

4-5 days in the hospital without the guitar was boring and almost enough to make me go crazy! I'm pretty impressed when I got to play it again thou, I thought it would take a while to get back into, but it I was jamming away again in no time!
