For those of you who pay close attention to DT, They will know that on the new record, Shattered Fortress ends Mike Portnoy's song(s) about his alcohol recovery. In the making of Systematic Chaos, He says he would like to make them one big song someday (Thus why a few of the songs share similar riffs).
So just for fun, this is what It would look like
1. The Glass Prison - 13:52
2. This Dying Soul - 11:27
3. The Root Of All Evil - 8:25
4. Repentance - 10:43
5. The Shattered Fortress - 12:49
Thats a total length of 56:36, Which would make it 14:32 longer than there current longest song, Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence at 42:04.
Anyway, I suggest making a playlist in Windows Media Player and listening to it in that order, I just finished it and its like a whole new dream theater experience, just amazing
Thought I would bring this up, been waiting to see how it would end since SDOIT.
yeahi already listened to 4 of the songs in line! but i have to say that i have been decieved by the last one, i sounds like lots of riffs from other parts of the suite
btw i didn't knew repentance was a part of the suite
anyway, its a cool topic, about a great band
Well its supposed to all feel a part of the same song and idea, so some of main riffs are reused, so when you listen to it as a whole, it has structure to it. Thats how it felt to me anyway.
Repentance it's such a boring song!! hahah
Nice one.
I'm gonna try this
I love the way Repentance builds up its climax (never boring to me)
Yeah I love it as well, one of Petrucci's best solos
Lined them up now! Gonna spend the next hour listening to it ^^
