The one thing that is hardest to me is singing and playing I beleive Kris or any of the ADministrators should make a lesson on Singing and playing the guitar... oh and btw do any of you know of a site that can improve your singing? (like have good voice lessons..)
Ya know Gene.... I cant picture u singing....but i agree with u
I can sing the Star Spangled Banner and hit the last high notes in tune. And I can prove it (recorded it and sent it to my bother as a joke last 4th of July). Also used to be able put both of my feet behind my head, have not tried that for awhile.
The USA is one of the few countries that has a old drinking song as the tune for its nation anthem, I am pretty proud of that.
EDIT: after saying that, I went down to the kitchen and sang it. When I was done, 7 of my 8 cats had surrounded me, making noises, and looking real agitated (the other cat was outside). However, I do hit it in precisely in tune, even the last note (actually the high note just before the end is harder to hit). The cats just don't appreciate it.
ALTERNATE strategy #2:
Just stick to guitar and find someone like this to join your band.

I have asked this question a few times in the past lol. Im afread there is no short cut or easy lesson to this.
you just have to practice the song till you can play it in your sleep, then learn the words and practice again like mad till you can do the two together.
I found that with songs you already know well (for me oasis wonderwall was my first) it becomes a bit easier. I also found that playing and singing with the original song in the backround helps heaps and heaps.
I can do either playing or singing usually. not both lol if i sing then i usually cannot concentrate on my fingering enough to get teh timing right.
My advice is pick a real simple song with just a few chords , learn the strum & song. It will build your confidence once you have a few tracks under your belt. Its just Bloody hard work and practice.
oh and did i say PRACTICE lol
Im not great at it but i can do a few songs...like
wonderwall by oasis
Hey there delilah by The Plain White Ts (gay, but its good for practice)
More than words by Extreme (more of a harder 1 but its good stuff)
thats about as far as ive gotten......but those are what i suggest to start learning to play and sing
I'd say start with an easy song that you know like the back of your hand and try singing along to that. something like "Polly" from Nirvana, which is VERY simple acoustic song.
