Video Editing Software - Which One

I am in the market for new video production software - My old Pinnacle Studio 9 is not cutting it(Just got done doing my kids talent show DVd and it was cumbersome). Was curious what others were using , especially the instructors since they post videos here on GMC and some get pretty fancy.

I know Sony Vegas is popular, but which one

Also looks like Coral Video Studio Pro has good reviews.

Is there any others that are leaders

Here are my guidelines - under $100, not a resource hog, easy to use, but with some decent capability as far as built in effects, transitions etc(Pinnacvle makes you buy these thing with unlock codes). I want to produce home movies(HD and SD) on DVD and some net videos(For GMC competitions etc)

Any advice would be appreciaited.

Thnaks,

Sony Vegas is awesome ! Any one you can afford..(limitation on cheaper versions is mostly on how many video tracks you get to use at once)...I would recommend it over any other video editing software..Its easy to use and you get professional quality..

I recommend Vegas Movie Studio 9, it has a pricetag of 55$, and it's great. Interface is very similar to Vegas Pro 8, but it has a fewer options for editing of course. Nevertheless, I think you will find everything you need in Vegas Studio 9 and more, it even has integrated upload to YouTube option. smile.gif

Vegas!

Even the non-pro packages are very accomplished. The only serious limitation is the number of audio and video tracks you can have which isn't a concern until you start to get complex with captions, composites and picture in picture.

One thing Vegas doesn't have is storyboarding which puzzled me at first, then I figured out it just gets in the way anyway and things are slicker without it!
