Hi guys, had to do some editing. This site is awesome for the forums alone! I am playing harder than ever thanks to the inspiration I get from watching Muris play. I'm not counting the other instructors out, I have learned stuff from others, but Muris is MY teacher! I am here to learn, and to teach. I don't have a video camera, I don't even know how to do this video stuff... I am old school. But, I'll figure it out sometime, because I want to help fledgling players and experienced players alike. In the meantime, I am here to help answer questions that anyone may have regarding playing and gear. I'm not up on theory, unfortunately, but I know my way around the fretboard. It's funny how alot of the world's top players don't know much theory. But, if you want to maximize your potential, you must put as many tools into your toolbox as you can. I would be much more harmonically advanced if I was more educated music-wise. I love the jazz/rock fusion style ala Guthrie Govan and Allan Holdsworth. Frank Gambale is another killer fusion player. I also like progressive rock bands like Dream Theater who display virtuoso capabilities, (all of them!), and the usual instrumental giants like Satch, Vai, Eric Johnson, Steve Morse, Andy Timmons, Greg Howe, and Al Dimeola. I like any band that is tight, musical, and technically advanced. I do not like the screaming, death, skulls, dark, kill your sister kind of stuff. I may be showing my age, whatever turns one on to the guitar is really a good thing in my opinion. See you in the forums...GMC rocks! Frank

QUOTE (FrankW @ May 8 2008, 05:37 PM) *
Thanks for the welcome, guys. Skennington, I live in Hendersonville right now. I am moving back to Charlotte at the end of this summer. I am one of many who have lost their jobs due to outsourcing, so I'll be looking for work in the Charlotte area. Once I get that handled, I will be looking to teach guitar again somewhere. I used to teach at Howren Music Off of North Sardis back in '88, and my last gig was in the houseband at the PaperDoll Lounge in '94. If I can manage it, I hope to find someone to jam with too. I'm working on my chops and getting good advice from the guys at GMC in terms of lessons and gear, so we'll see what happens. See ya'.

Auh.... The Paper Doll, remember that place, not that I frequent it.. rolleyes.gif Early 90's were my running days man! Might have even saw your band. Like you said, funny how a common interest can bring people worlds apart together, and even just a few miles. Look me up sometime, I'm down in the Steele Creek area toward Lake Wylie. smile.gif

What's up, man? Thanks for replying. Yeah, I worked at the Continental Tire/General Tire plant on Westinghouse blvd., if you know where that is. They shafted us, man. I worked there 22 years before they sent us home. I should have had the guts to persue my fist love of guitar before hooking up with those guys. Maybe it's a blessing in disguise, as I have been playing alot of guitar since being laid off. I really do hope to do something with my playing on some level, either teaching and/or gigging. I've been out of the loop a while, but the network is already starting for me thanks to GMC because I'm talking to a fellow Charlottean! Let me know what your interests are music-wise. You never know, something could come of this on some level. The fact that you are on this cool website tells me you are serious about guitar. Let me know if you have any questions or suggestions in our endeavor to become better players. Talk to you soon!
