Was getting the feeling the Virtual Bands are dead...that or everyone's communicating elsewhere wink.gif

Guess you could say i'm going fishing to see who all is interested in making a VBand. If even one other person...

As for me, I'm beginner guitar and influenced by some of the mainstream rock, but I'm a fan of music in general and willing to play anything. Rise Against, Breaking Benjamin, Avenged Sevenfold some of my favorite bands.

I'm always up to it. But there is one problem, people online are sometimes (quite often) only online for a few months. So if I start a band with a cool song, then it's really anoying that after a month or so, nobody does a thing!
I'm willing to lead one even. I'm not a great guitar player, but I have some experience here, and I could mix.

Well if you feel like leading one you could count me in...although I'm not sure what I could provide. I will be on for more than a month that's for sure...I've got NOTHING else to do wink.gif

Well that idea of a virtual band is very nice by the way. I would give it a try because I think there is a great potential to improve in playing guitar. I have not a big amount of time but when i know some fix dates for uploads or something else i could manage it to get my tasks down.

Maybe we could start a new band smile.gif with you kaznie as a leader smile.gif

Sounds like a plan right ???

well lets start with a cover, post some ideas, and lets keep it general rock music, nothing too eclectic!! Then we can figure out whos doing what! I'll get the ball rolling with some suggestions:

Little Wing by Hendrix (quite easy and we could all contribute a short solo, its just in E so pentatonics sound great)
Hard to Handle by Black Crowes (Dead simple rhythym, quick tempo, good for rock solos)
comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd (The most epic song ever! loads of feeling, easy rhythym, loads of scope for solos)

I think CN would be the best from this lot, the singing is easy too, the drums would just be programmed but the bass may present a problem. Other than that I have a great backing track read made for this without guitar or vocal, I could do a reaper project and post it with the backing once we have established what time slots peopl wll fill etc???

Wow! Never heard of comfortably numb?!? I am gobsmacked! Sign of the times I suppose, problem with a metal song is it encourages people to play hard, fast and high gain, great if your Lian Gerbino but we arent! A more moderate rock song will give you more freedom of expression. Take the smoke on the water track the instructors did, its a dead basic track and that gave a wide scope for improvisation and it was just incredible!
Having listened to sanitarium I think it would take months to fully reproduce that track as well, it has loads ofdifferent soloing, complex rhythyms etc

Any more comments or ideas???

That thing qwith CN smile.gif mh don't know maybe I heard it before and forgot it over the years. But from Pink Floyd i only know Another brick in the wall by name and i saw the Pompey Concert on tv. But that's it for Pink Floyd smile.gif

But i really like that kind of music. I am very open when it comes to rock/blues music. Cn sounds fine for me but i have to learn a lot to get anything sown for that song.

its dead easy mate! bm pentatonic will work all the way! Gilmour is a notorious penta player, he just uses great tone, perfect note selection and awesome talent! We can have at least the first two cant we laugh.gif!!!

Ill attach the backing, we can loop the end solo progression to give everyone a shot at it, ill do vox and rhythym no problems. thoughts??

I know this is more of a collab/vb hybrid, but all bands start off doing covers dont they?!? biggrin.gif

If this is accepted then Ill do a reaper file with the backing, rhythym and vox and then we can decide who gets the glory parts!! A part which I am happy for all you guys to have! I dont think a note for note cover is what is needed here but an improv to fit the backing.

Ok so how many people want to join us?? Kaznie?? Mygay?? Only we two sted? I really like the backing smile.gif
Vox are vocals? what i have to do now? Learn something from the progression part (chords mixed with strum pattern) or do you want that we play/write a little solo like we do in collabs.

Ill do the full rhythym backing this weekend and publish the reaper file, if you're not familiar with the track I can give you the time frames to play the solo through and then I can mix it up on the final take and add the vocals, if anyone else wants in on this let us know!!

I'd want in, however I'm skeptical as to what I could provide given my inexperience. Thinking maybe just watching what ya'll are doing before jumping into any commitment....*sigh* if I still had my keyboard...

Whatever you want to contrbute will be welcome mate, were all learning here and the the only way you get experienced in things is by throwing yourself at them! I'll have the track up tomorrow I reckon and we can take it from there. Were getting a lot of views here but no posts, I feel like were being watched! unsure.gif

ps What about a name? I liked the chickenfoot idea, but seeing as were on the web how about duckfoot?!? (Web? ducks? webbed feet? get it?......ah, never mind laugh.gif
