Hey GMC, I don't want to "jinx" it , but I just interviewed for a job at Pro Guitar in Portland this weekend, and it went really well! Not certain yet, but I'm pretty certain they'll be finding me a position at their storefront very soon!
I'm so honored for the opportunity to even interview for the position. After looking into the company, they are mainly known for their boutique effect selection, and review vids online. For example, this one was shot in the storefront I'm applying to...
Though they have some "affordable" guitars, they are mainly known for their high end amp, and fender custom shop selection....and the effects selection is mindblowing. If you read the review on this TC electronics pedal, for example (http://proguitarshop.com/tc-electronic-alter-ego-delay.html) you'll find that the guys from PG were flown out to Denmark to design some custom pedals. WHAT?!!
I'll keep you posted on this development, but I'm so excited for the opportunity to work at one of the top guitar shops in the country. I'll try not to spontaneously combust if I do not get the job.
That would be a real Good Thing - kind of Heaven on Earth
That would be great...hope ya get it !!
I keep my fingers crossed, I hope you get the job! The shop looks really promising in the video.
There is a great scene in Portland, both in musical terms, as well as regarding instruments and guitar shops. And CDBaby is also there
Best of luck mate - you will get to play the guitar all day long and get payed for it, plus try out a ton of gear and become a gear guru! You can start your own gear blog or come up with awesome materials for the company - imagine that they will appreciate this a lot There are tons of cool projects that you can do, while being there
I wish you all the best mate! As Cosmin said, the possibilities are infiniteif you start working there!
That would just be all kinds of awesome! Best of luck!
Super congrats dude!!
Best of luck man!!!! One of my first jobs was at the music store where I was taking lessons. To this day......BEST JOB EVER!!!!!!!
Wow, I still need to get my first job by playing guitar...
Best of luck mate! Sounds like a great gig!
Sounds like a dream job. Hope you land it, Gabriel!
It's a dream job ! I once worked for a short period in the Music Shop in Wels ,Austria. The only obstacle for full-time employment was the language barrier, unfortunately. I remember that I spent the whole days there, even though I had 8 hours of working time
GOT THE JOB!!! WOOOOOOOOOOHAAAAAAAA! So freakin' happy! I start next week, after the new(ish) wife and I bomb down to Mexico tomorrow for a last-min, overdue, honeymoon!
I love life right now.
Great news! Congrats & have a great time!

Sorry guys, it's been a whirlwind of a few weeks.
So many great products!!! Pixtronix, Catalinbread, Earthquake Effects, custom TC Electronics pedals designed for our shop, Divided by Thirteen Amps, MANY Fender Custom Shop Guitars, Taylor Acoustics....
It's been a fun, and challenging few weeks. We have such an extensive stock, and with our reputation from the online side of the Pro Guitar Shop Demos, I really am trying to study and step up my gear knowledge every day.
Awesome stuff, this shop would be like heaven compared to working at the hell that is GC, Quality gear and approach to customers.
Hey Gabe! Glad to hear it's going well man - tell me one thing tho, will we be seeing you in those tutorials as well?
Congrats man!
