Could someone tell me some scales to learn to help me with soloing as well as just jamming with other people??? Appreciate it!!

Grizzle - I suggest you learn the minor pentatonic scale first - this will get you going fast - and - it's pretty easy to learn.

Minor and Major pentatonic scales first.
After that you can learn the Minor and Major scales.
And after that you can learn the harmonic and melodic minor scales
etc

Just start with pentatonics, they are used in all most any kind of music:D

Yeh just concentrate with the minor pentatonic scale.

A useful key is the key of A and also the key of E, so learn the first pentatonic box shape and it can be used for both keys.

A minor pentatonic :


E minor pentatonic :


(green notes are the "root" notes, check Andrew's theory lessons if you are a bit unsure what that means)

That let you jam along to any song that is in either the key of A minor or E minor, respectively.

That would probably be the best starting point- there are several directions you could go in after that though.

I also recommend minor pentatonic first then natural minor.

Once you know minor pentatonic the natural minor is just adding 2 notes more in certain places. An dthe good news is that the same shapes work for the major scales!

But take it slow and start with pentatonic, it sounds so good
