Happy new year, everyone!

This might be a noobie question, but I really need help with this:

When playing the fourth video of http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/rhythm-gu...-for-beginners/ I get stuck with the pick when strumming those palm muted power chords when going up. I noticed when I play "normal" chords I angle the pick so it's like "brushing" the string, but I also noticed it seems Pavel doesn't do this and if I angle it I get too big of a motion and I lose the speed.
What should I do to not get stuck? I tried varying the pressure, the way I angle the pick, etc, but nothing seems to cut it.

Thanks a lot.

Hey, I'm looking to buy a new guitar and have browsed around a lot, but I'd still like some expert comments tongue.gif.
What I'm looking for:

Sound: J-Rock (see below for examples) I was thinking about an ESP since it seems it's quite common in Jrock. Don't know which one though. (I also wonder how a stratocaster / les paul / ibanez would be for this type of music.)
Price Range: 800-1400 USD is what I'm expecting as a price. (although it's flexible.)
I want it to be a guitar which I can use for a long time and wouldn't need to upgrade when I get more serious.

Sound examples:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ACpkG-agIM4 (Dir en Grey, ESP again?)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a-GMo_iFT-U (Lolita23q)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ly_vhsRLcCQ (Belive In Sytle)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GDlSYkK81tI (Enoz)
Etc.

Thanks a lot.
