GMC Forum _ PRACTICE ROOM _ Returning To Gmc

My name is Ron and I've been playing for about 35 years. I am at best an intermediate player, b/c my main instrument is my voice.
I currently play a MusicMan JP 11 (for about 2 months), but I've been previously playing a 1986 and a 1991 PRS through a Fender Hot Rod Deville 4X10. Most of my processing comes through Apple's Mainstage for live and Logic for recording, but I have pedals and gear out the wahzoo if I ever get bored.
I love hard rock to metal, but it has to be melodic or I lose interest. I have no interest in jazz, and only slight interest in country.
Favorite bands would be, Dream Theater, Flying Colors, Dregs, Kansas, Spock's Beard, Three Days Grace, Decypher Down, Red, blah blah...
I think my favorite players are Morse, Petrucci, SRV, Billy Gibbons, Mike Slamer, Dann Huff, so many great players.
About a year ago I joined GMC and the first lesson I did was Marcus Lavendell's Neoclassical Etude #1. the instructors at GMC are really impressive.
If I had a goal, I think it would be to become a "real" guitar player with some well-rounded fundamental skills. Since hitting 50, I feel time running out. :-)

Hey man! Welcome back! Sounds like we like about the same music! I get my musical inspiration from a few of the players you mentioned. It's so cool somebody here finally has heard of RED. I love their latest album. They were my transition into heavier music.

Wow, awesome. You're nuts. I subscribed to your YT channel. I'm impressed.
RED is a great example of hard meets melodic. Loved their new album too.

Hey Ron, thanks for introducing yourself! We have just discovered the beauty of doing collabs with vocals as well - so it would be really cool if you could sing in the next one.
Oh and there is no such thing as running out of characters here
