GMC Forum _ GEAR & PRODUCTION _ Suhr Guitars

Posted by: ElHombre Oct 7 2012, 01:58 PM

Hi there

I know that a few people here on GMC use Suhr guitars, some instructors too.
I just wanted to check what the general opinions about the guitar manufacter is.

Do you use a Suhr guitar? what model? What can you say about it?

This is a really cool guitar I think.. the suhr MII charcoal

How about the tremolo/bridge on this guitar?
Well im not so familiar with english "guitar terms" but, there the whammy bar is located.

I have an Ibanez with floyd rose and I am not that happy with it anymore, it gets out of tune, how is it on this guitar?

I am left handed, so I don't get guitars of that caliber, but if you are unhappy with the floyd you have , it might be a floyd copy- if that is the case , having an original installed might be a cheaper way to go
P.S. the sure uses original floyd's

I have no suhr guitar but I am very curious about them, too. many great players (such as Guthrie Gowan for instance) play suhr guitars and they always tell how well crafted and exceptional their instruments are. If you look at the jamtrackcentral homepage there are many players who play suhr guitars......
I never saw a review in a magazine yet but I really love the look of the guitars but they are rather pricy......

I also have an ibanez with floyd rose and I am also not happy with it because it does not react as direct as I wish it would....

but I am eager to know all about the suhr guitars of the other gmc users....

I don't own one, but Suhr is a brand you can trust for awesome quality
And outstanding customer service.

I'd love a Suhr Modern with Aldrich pickups and Floyd Rose

As long as Guthrie uses them... smile.gif I don't think we need to know anything else about the quality wink.gif Regarding the guitars, I guess you have to try one to see if you like it for real

Yes Im thinking of trying one out, only one dealer in the country, but it has a store in my town, yay smile.gif
Also, maybe I will get one, if I can get a really good deal and sell my Ibanez and fender.

Suhr guitar are amazing! When I was working on my endorsement I was talking to them as well but Tom Anderson offered a better deal
I like Suhr a lot and know a lot of guitar players who owns one very high end instruments!

When I ordered my Tyler Burning Water it was between the two companies, it was just my lust for a Tyler went back many years to an interview I saw with Dann Huff.

SUHR guitars are AMAZING. I've never played a bad one. I've never owned one though as they cost more than entire studio smile.gif But they are unique and wonderful instruments. If you ever get one, never sell it. If I ever do get one, I"ll be buried with it when I die.

Don't be modest Todd....you've got some GEAR in your studio, and I see some more "moderately" priced Suhrs for around $1,500 on ebay.

Just cut me a HOT deal on one of your fretlights, and you'll be on your way to a Suhr in no time!! tongue.gif

Kidding....but seriously....let me know if you ever are selling a fretlight. I want one, and am in US for shipping!

If you have a SUHR that you can swap me for my fretlight, it's a deal smile.gif My studio setup is actually pretty modest in terms of expense as I always try to stretch each dollar as far as it will go instead of focusing on higher end gear. I have seen some nice SUHR guitars on ebay but I"ve bought a few guitars off ebay that I'd wished later that I"d played them first. Ebay is a bit dangerous that way.

BREAKING NEWS

Gutherie has moved from Suhr guitars to Charvel, he has been spotted with a Koa Charvel (that looks very much like his Suhr recently and it has been confirmed by John Suhr that he has moved on.

Now I'm not taking anything away from Charvel Custom Shop in terms of their instruments but I think this moved has more to do with the marketing and promotional power Fender can have for Gutherie as an artist than the guitars.

Gutherie is not displeased with his Suhr models or with the company.

So, in lesser words ... Guthrie sold his soul? laugh.gif

Posted by: PosterBoy Oct 12 2012, 11:23 AM

Made a career decision.

This is just speculation.

There is no bad blood between him and John Suhr, but I can't see anyone leaving the Suhr family based on reasons to do with the actual guitars.

Posted by: Cosmin Lupu Oct 12 2012, 11:33 AM

Got that right! I was only joking of course wink.gif But anyway, each of us owes it to himself to try to make the best decisions for his/ her career!

Really, I cant spot any difference between the Suhr M1/2 - M7/M8.
Looks kind of the same..

question is which bridge is the best, they come with different bridges. The Gotoh 510 2post trem and the goto floyd.
