Hi everybody!
Good news: a new band was created 2 weeks ago! It includes a drummer, a bass player, a singer (and guitarist) and a lead guitarist, me. smile.gif
We started doing a list with songs that we want to cover (besides creating our own ones, ofc wink.gif ).
Any suggestions of your part are welcomed and appreciated! wink.gif

"Think of a guitar solo as a paragraph. You need a clear beginning, a middle, and an end. Look at musical phrases like sentences, and make sure you break them up using punctuation—or space. You pause naturally when conversing, right? If you don't, you'll bore the listener. The same thing will happen with your audience if your solo is one dimensional. You'll wear them out and lose their attention." —Tom Principato

ZZ Top is always an option (check sharp dressed man), or the great "sweet home alabama". The Rolling Stones also offer some great and well known songs. Oh, and a song my coverband just recently rehearsed and played: Santana's black magic woman. The audience loved it (which surprised me...)

Hmmm....
I would like to add some here... these are pretty much what the audience likes....

Have You ever seen the rain, Proud Mary, Bad Moon Rising - Creedence
Layla, Cocaine, I Shot the Sheriff, Tears in Heaven - Clapton
Black Velvet - Alannah Myles
(she got) The Look - Roxette (Yeah, Im from Sweden... tongue.gif )
Every thing I do I do it for You -Bryan Adams
Tush - ZZ Top
Sweet Home Chicago - Blues Brothers
Mustang Sally - the Commitments
Sultans of Swing - Dire Straits
Hungry Heart - Bruce Springsteen
Knockin on heavens door - Guns & roses

For some funky stuff, check Cool & the Gang and Earth, Wind & Fire (hard to cover though...)
For soul stuff, simply anything with James Brown, Marvin Gaye, Tina Turner or Aretha Franklin will do
Songs like "Respect", "I got You", "Aint no mountain high enough" or "Private Dancer" is always good....

Some great songs mentioned. You can't go wrong with CCR, The Rolling Stones, ZZ Top, Dire Straits, Neil Young etc. There certainly is lots of great stuff out there to cover.

Lenny Kravitz has some great songs, great rock and funk mix. Also check out the Chili Peppers for some cool rock/funk/punk type stuff. Especially if you are already doing some Stevie Wonder as they do a great version of Higher Ground. Tom Petty is always good and one can never go wrong with Fire Woman by the Cult (She Sells Sanctuary is also a great one)

Also check out The Tragically Hip. They are from over here in the Great White North smile.gif Basically are Canadian icons and always manage to get the crowd rocking. Some songs to check out on youtube are:

Blow at High Dough
38 Yrs Old
Little Bones
Locked in the Trunk of a Car
Looking for a Place to Happen
