GMC Forum _ GEAR & PRODUCTION _ Ibanez Rg 350 Dx Question

Howdy GMC. Last fall I got a new '08 Fender American Strat. Since that day I have not picked up my old Ibanez RG 350 DX. I'm wondering, is there ever reason for me to use it over my Fender, for Satchy stuff etc.?
I would have already tested it again myself but it needs some work on the setup. Thanks for your input.

Depending on the style(s) of music that you might ever want to play, your RG is a nice solid fixed bridge instrument. Great for alternate tunings. So...
- If you hate downtuning as much as I do: no reason to keep it.
- If you don't: there's your downtuned backup guitar.

RG350DX isn't fixed bridge.

Anyway, don't sell it to praetorian, he'll paint it blue, replace the pickups, and then give it to his three-year-old.

If you're considering selling, it I would suggest that you keep it as a backup instrument. Only sell if it is absolutely necessary.

I wasn't considering selling it at this point, I'd like to have it around for my kids to play with one day (yeah right!).
I was really concerned about it's application/place in my setup now.

Yeah, just keep it in a different tuning that your Strat. Then you will find great use for it.
I'd like to use my Ibanez IJX 121 for half step down tunes, for example, but it has crappy pickups needing to be replaced.

lol yeah. It's probably worth about $100, got a bunch of bad scratches on the backside of its body. I'll keep you in mind though

Aahh, well, if you aren't selling it, just keep it as a backup. As other's suggested you can experiment with different string gauge, and detune it, try some drop tunings. This can be fun!

I have my Rg350dx tuned half step down, so i use it whenever i need that tuning..
Eventhough my main guitar is a Jem7vwh, i still really like the Rg350!
It stays in tune very very well for such a cheap model too.
