Hey all, just got an invite from John and thought I'd drop in...looks like a cool place.

I've been playing about 21 years now, mostly jazz for the second half of that 21...that's pretty much all I want to play and hear...

I'm a high school teacher and I teach private guitar lessons on the side.

Anyway, hopefully I can be of use to some of the discussions and learn some things too.

Jeff

Hey Jeff, welcome aboard, I'm more of a metal head but I enjoy playing around in the Dorian mode. I also play classical and flamenco guitar.

Thanks all for the warm welcome...

Cosmin, my main axes are a Heritage 575 and a Hofner Verythin Standard, and my amp is a Henriksen with a Redstone Audio Speaker cab. I also play a Taylor 414ce for acoustic sounds, whichI've been really into lately.

Zoom, this week I've been listening to Jim Hall and Art Farmer like mad, also Gary Burton (his latest with Julian Lage), Vijay Iyer, Anat Cohen and Jake Saslow. (That's what's in the disc changer--yeah, I'm a luddite, I still like CD's and records)

I like a lot of stuff, from Django to Albert Ayler:)

Qenzoz, I like some fusion...I prefer it to be more jazzy and funky as opposed to rock-like...so Herbie Hancock's Headhunter's--big yeah...Guthrie Govan...I respect him as a monster player, but the music is not my bag.

With any kind of jazz, I much prefer to hear players really improvising--the whole group improvising and pushing, not just the band laying down a backbeat and somebody soloing on top of it.

Anyway, thanks again, I'll be seeing you all around.
