Hello friends! Welcome to our new collaboration!!
This time I've recorded a backing in the style of Nirvana, and our founder and rockstar Kristofer Dahl is already working on totally amazing lyrics and vocals. I'm impressed of the first demo he's just sent me.

Backing track:

Tempo: 160 bpm
Key and Scale choices:
Intro: The intro is based on a riff with power chords: F#5 - C5 - F#5 - C5 - F#5 - C5 - A5
Verse: The verse is based on the same riff than the intro played by the bass.
Chorus: B5 - D5 - A5 -C5
Solo section: I recorded a reference solo. The backing is the same than the verse. So you can record you own ideas over the verse or jamtrack.
The best scale for this progression which is based on a minor mode of F# is this one:

However you could also experiment with F# blues scale trying to avoid staying too much on the 5th (C#):

In order to make the things easier for compiling takes and mixing I need that each participant shares 3 files:
- Audio file with the mix of the backing and your guitar.
- Audio file only with your guitar (If possible this audio should have the same length than the mix version)
- Video of you playing the solo, and if it's not possible a picture. (Mp4 format if it's possible)
The best way to share this is compressing in a zip file to be downloaded from here or using sharing service as dropbox, wetransfer, and copying the link here.
If you decide to share your files using soundcloud please remember to "allow downloads".

If you want to be inspired by Kurts guitar work, it was all about melodies, noises and attitude - no fancy playing.
But any contribution you can think of will be appreciated:
* Use your rock licks
* Record another instrument: bass, vocals, drums etc
* program a vst instrument etc

Ok here's my attempt at this. The tremolo picking is a bit shaky, so maybe you want to cut those parts. It was a good exercise though since I didn't knew I could actually pick at this speed

Cool! Over-all these bass lines felt really groovy. There are some problems though, namely the first note as it's not on time and might be tricky for Gab to fix.

Lots of cool ideas here - I think you did the right thing to record with my vocals as a reference - as everything usually revolves around the vocals. So we are much more likely to use your lines if they work with the vocals.

Thanks Kris, I know, I kept missing that first beat for some reason! I did ask Gab if he wanted me to re-do it but he hasn't said so as yet so not sure if he managed to slice it up to suit.

Alright. Here is a vid with All, including vocals and then one just guitar. It was a pain. It was so off the cuff and I did it once before bed that when I came back to vid it today I had a lot of difficulty figuring out what the hell I did for one section. Darn my poor skill. Anyway, I decided to ape my way thru that part. I just couldn't find a suitable line.
I suck at video'ing........I did this different out of Ableton live then usual. Don't really like how IMovie fiddled with the balance of the audio so added the audio only from Live on the bottom. Maybe Gab and even it out.

Hello Gab,
I shouldn't have done this really with my deadline so close. It took five minutes to record then my card reader failed 
I had to hunt out the proprietary cables for the camcorder to get the video onto my PC so lost lots of valuable time
Anyway, here is the video. It's only a short simple solo made up of 4 notes. Please excuse the freaky vibrato at the end, I always go weird on vibrato when it's a fast track 
In https://1drv.ms/f/s!Ap09zsLCowi5iLdGzCYunGDkQHv7kg folder is the MP4, the guitar with backing, guitar only but with silence at the beginning so if you line it up with the backing at the start the guitar will come in at the same point as the video and a guitar only track. Unfortunately I can't do a Video! Since upgrading to Win10 my Webcam has stopped working! I've been on their site and D/Loaded the new Drivers but I keep getting a 'Launcher_Main.exe failure' message every time I try to do anything!

Thanks and congrats guys!! I'm amazed of the great guitar ideas that you've provided to make this one. It was tricky to build because each idea was killer, so at the same time the mix and video edition has been a very fun process.
