Just wanted to say hi from Denmark! I am taking up guitar playing after a 15 year hiathus and I am in awe of all the cool stuff you can find on this site. If only I had all that help back in the 90ies!

I also have a question.. I see a lot of the lessons here on the site that have Guitar Pro files available. I downloaded it and find it pretty cool that both tabs and notes are there. But I am not sure if I should buy it? I have trouble finding Guitar pro files (at least for Guitar Pro 5) anywhere, so I am wondering if it is on its way out? Or what do you guys think?

:-) Camilla

Welcome to GMC, glad to have you here!

The latest version of GuitarPro is somewhere around 5.3 or 5.4, maybe even more. Although you can find a lot of gp3 and gp4 files (that are, however, compatible with GP 5) there are more and more gp5 files available (e.g at free tab websites) and there are some upgraded handy tools in it. Sibelius is also a similar program but Guitarpro is more widespread. It's a great program to turn sheets of music into actual music - though midi processed. If you picked up the guitar it's gonna be a very useful program so I'd advise you to buy one.

Once again, welcome and feel free to ask anything on the forums smile.gif

Thanks for all the nods and waves smile.gif

I am comparing Tuxguitar and Guitar Pro right now. I quite like Tuxguitar, but the look of the nodes is just not as beautiful as the look in Guitar Pro.. Hmm. Think I will end up buying Guitar Pro after all.

Welcome Camilla!

So true your statement about the 90s, why didn't invent internet sooner laugh.gif smile.gif
Guitar pro is an awesome program. You can open any GP tabs with GP5, even older ones, so there are zillions of tabs out there you can use.
