Thanks man. I've tried to do the best possible stuff, and more songwriting lessons will sure to come
Here are the asnwers: 1. I think you answered you own question. There are not general rules when making a song. You can pick randomly or form a pattern. Everything is good as long it sounds good to you. Interchangeable chords are just one way in approaching of harmonic change problem. You know what "interchangeability" is the best when you record it and think: "my god this sounds beautiful!" 2. Wow, easy there, let's go from the beginning. The song is in D major. Logically we use Dmajor tonality right? Now what is the VI chord of D major scale? Yes it's Bminor. So if you wanna work from a minor scale all you have to do is treat that minor as the VI, and the formula is applicable there too. Get the picture? Also all this relates to modes like this. Mode is a scale, that is built on top of every note of the scale. So I - Ionian, II - Dorian etc.. 3. I think you can find all this in Andrew's theory lessons very thoroughly explained. Not that I don't want to explain it, but Andrew has already done an aexcellent job of making these theory lessons, especially about building chords and adding more notes to regular chords to create more complex voicings. -------------------- - Ivan's Video Chat Lesson Notes HERE
