GMC Forum _ PRACTICE ROOM _ What Is The Name Of This Scale?

I believe that is the Byzantine scale, Very close to Phrygian Dominant but with a sharp 7th

seeing how it looks to have a c# in one octave and a c in the next, , also the same with an f and f# , and g and g# , it looks like notes that might be a combo of a few ?

Oh wow I didnt even notice that, but I did notice my answer was wrong since there is a D# rather than an E in the first octave, maybe some kind of altered Locrian mode? Byzantine flat 5? lol I am stumped
Also the second octave appears to have 8 tones rather than 7?

i finally have my guitar so I can hear what this sounds like, Isnt bad, not a clue as to what chord you might play under it ?

This one may go along with some Jamsalot chords?

I guess that would be the key to figuring it out if it work with some music.

I did a search in the scale generator and could not find anything that was similar. I could be wrong, but I don't believe a scale can change tonalities between octaves though?

I tend to agree with you! I've had that "scale" in my head for a year now - I tend to go back to it when improvising a solo in my mind. I finally decided to sit down and actually "learn" it and then tried to find it in the scale generator and like you... it wasn't there. I didn't realize the tonality actually shifted until after reading the replies to this thread! haha. Funny thing is, when I was doing this solo in my mind, I wasn't thinking in terms of backing chords - I may have been thinking they sat well with whatever I was dreaming, but I never even thought about the chords necessary to back-this scale. Now I'm in a bind! haha.
Next time I'm in a creative mood and it comes up, I'll pay more attention and see what odd chords I was thinking comes out.
