Since I'm looking for a new 2x12 cab, I came across this clip:

I don't think you can really make a fair judgment with one single eq setting and mic placement, but still, it's a good reference point and you can hear the character of the speakers. I personally liked the G12H 30 and the Vintage 30 from Celestion as well as the EVM 12L from EV. What do you prefer? smile.gif

I was driving my relatives' cars for years, until I bought this 2 months ago:

2010 Ford Fiesta.
Very similar, without the blue stripes.

Having a cool repertoire of licks is very important if you like to be good at improvising. You can start by copying licks by players you like and then you can change a thing or two, so they fit your style. My favorite way of "stealing" cool licks is copying the rhythmic structure behind the lick and changing the notes completely - it's very useful method as it can make so many variations of one lick, which is what you would ultimately want.

The next step would be experimentation and playing over some backing tracks so you can find ways to combine the licks and build phrases that make sense.

I saw some of Kris' youtube videos and they brought me here. I realised it wasn't the first time I visited the site, since it seemed familiar (probably I followed some google search link in the past). And here I am. smile.gif

I think you are referring to the lack of harmonics in your tone... If that's the case: adding more gain isn't the solution, it will just make your tone more compressed and nothing more - try to add more upper midrange frequencies (presence), back off the gain and add an overdrive pedal with the tone knob cranked. In addition, you can angle the pick a bit more, so it hits the string at an angle (almost with the edge), it should help.

I hope I helped you in some way. smile.gif

It sounds like it's time to put the knowledge in practice - get some backing tracks and improvise over them as much as you can. The scale will be usable to you only if you know it's sound in your sleep, and no theory in the world can teach you that. smile.gif

When you start to feel confident with the major and minor scales, learn all the theory behind the other modes and start applying them in "real musical situations".

You bend in only one direction, and you release the string to the normal position. Vibrating a note by bending in both directions would result in a "seasick" vibrato. smile.gif Bending up or down can make quite a difference in the tone and the articulation, that's for sure.

One of my favorite "new" bands for sure (along with Alter Bridge and Trapt). Sometimes I get so addicted, I listen to "Lifelike" for days. biggrin.gif
