so, im back from vacation, and one of the things my father and i planned our vacation around was the metal masters tour in chicago, at the first midwest bank amphitheater, which is a "shed", or an amphitheater, with a metal roof. so, we arrived and found our seats, i was excited as i had been waiting 6 months for this. as testament came on, i noticed a VERY high pitched noise as they played, that drowned out all the instruments and vocaLs, same with motorhead. this phenomenon is known as noise reflection, the sound was reflecting off this crappy metal roof, and you couldent hear anything. the high pitched noise was deafening. we walked out about halfway through motorheads set, as did many others. i was, and still, furious, as i paid $150 for the 2 tickets. i have never been more disappointed in my life, and i would urge everyone to avoid this venue! mad.gif

yeah, that's our worst enemy, I experimented it lot of times when I play in concert and it's really difficult to follow the rhythm.

Anyway welcome back

Sorry to hear that , I sympathize because we don't have good venues here in Serbia and many concerts sounded bad and noisy... sad.gif

The Buddy Guy/George thorogood gig was amazing, one of the best shows ive ever seen. the sound was perfect, and the performance was flawless!

yup, it reflects off the unshielded metal, thus creating a very high pitched squeal.
Edit: oh, and i bought a new guitar, an ESP Ex-50. it rocks.

Here in the netherlands we also have a lot of crappy venues. Especially the big bands that play in arena's. The Amsterdam Arena is the worst of them and it is pretty much concrete. Ahoy sucks as well.

But maybe I'm a little spoiled though as I live 20 minutes away (with bicycle) from the now almost legendary 013. tongue.gif

Thanks, This reminds me that I still have to write and post a review for Symforce II. wink.gif

I saw the same show, in NY - Very crappy audio as well. I don't think Testament or Motorhead sound check or something because Heaven and Hell sounded good (even though Dio was putting me to sleep) and Priest sounded awesome!
