Moving large amounts of data between drives used to drive me nuts. Using non ssd (ssd drives have no moving parts and are blazing fast and more pricey than regular hard drives) drives to copy 15 Gigabytes of music projects can make you pull your hair out.

Thankfully, recently I bought a little device that connects to my THUNDERBOLT port on my laptop. It's a docking station that has all sorts of connections, usb 3, etc. I then found usb3 to esata adapters and connected two of my RAID (multi drive units) with esata and one single drive unit with usb 3 and WOW. Finally I'm moving 15 gigabytes of music projects in just a few minutes. The drives push 150 Megabytes per second. (8 bits in a byte, don't be fooled by megabits). Soooo glad I found this gear. It's brought new life to my G-Tech Raid drives which were very expensive and I was using firewire 800 which is painfully slow these days.
