Just a quick question about pull offs i know that your not just pulling your finger straight off that you kind of pluck the string however ive seen a couple of ways and im wondering which is the correct way. One is where they pluck the note and then pull the finger off in a diagonal direction where as in the video ive linked below they pull/pluck the finger across the string and then stop it on the string below, is any of the ways more correct than the other or does it come down to personal preference?

Stopping on the string bellow in the video you linked
isn't actually planed movement but more like natural reaction
in order NOT to go too bellow and out of "action field".
Most natural way it to pull-off downwards
tho it can be also kind a diagonal, depending on how your hand is placed atm.
Basic idea is to pull-off, not just to remove finger off the string.
So as long as you are pulling with enough power and accuracy I guess you're ok.
The correct way is the one that gives you best results: best tone and best comfort in execution. No worries if someones else's method is slightly different, try to analyze and see if the tone that you do is proper, and if the comfort is there. If it is, nothing to worry about
As Muris said, as long as you do pull-off with proper force you will be good. Angle how you do it will change with hands positioning. Stopping on string bellow is very natural as you want to be economical when playing - you want to make motions as short and small as possible so that you gain speed that way. You don't want your fingers flying around unnecessarily.
