It seems that there is no love for Anthrax in these boards. Its always about Slayer or Metallica or Megadeth or something. I personally think that Anthrax's music was beyond and much rawer than the other 3 Thrash predecessors. Among The Living is an incredible album. No thrash band ever had me headbanging more than I Am The Law or Caught In A Mosh. The riffs are pure hardcore punk oriented with a much rawer thrash variations. The gang shouts are phenomenal. And Joey Belladona's vocal work is ball grabbingly intense. Put it all together and you got yourself a moshpit that won't stop till everybody is dead.

haha yea, I love Anthrax!

I Am The Law

Nice F*in Life

Indians the middle part is pure moshing insanity!

Caught In A Mosh!!!!

I always thought that the greatest thrash band was Testament, im not a big tallica fan but Megadeth are pretty good!! Testament rocked so hard and Alex Skolnick is an amazing guitarist, the solo to Return to Serenity is godlike!!!

In fact thats just given me an idea for Trond or Muris..... an "In The Style Of..... Testament" smile.gif

Listened to the songs you posted Vince and they rock, your right about the middle section on "Indians"

Iain!

I never really dig Testament. I mean they were ok, but they suffer way too much on fillers in there songs. Electric Crown is a hell of a song though.

Anthrax was great to me because they captured of how true there roots are connected to hardcore punk, and hardcore punk was huge on NY back in the 80's so there approach to thrash was much rawer. Plus, Anthrax brought moshing to the Metal community so thats a big plus to them.

My first introduction to Anthrax was actually the "I'm the Man" EP when I was about 10 yrs old. I thought they were amazing. Fusing rap and metal I loved it smile.gif I then got the "Among the Living" album and well I've been a fan ever since.

Anthrax is an amazing thrash band, one of the big four, but they were also very influential with their fusion of rap and metal, probably to the dismay of many wink.gif . But I personally really enjoyed that side of the group. With songs like I'm the man and Bring the Noise with Public Enemy they opened to the door to bands like Korn and Rage Against the Machine...... Although we could have done without Limp Bizkit tongue.gif laugh.gif

Anthrax kick ass but I'm another huge Testament fan and I agree with Iain earlier, Return to Serenity is possibly my favourite solo ever.
