I've been looking to upgrade my guitar for FOREVER! It's the lower-end Epiphone Les Paul that i bought for $200 forever ago.

I looked into getting an Ibanez or a Gibson for a while and even made a few topics on here about it. Judging by what I play I decided that Gibson would better suit my heavy rock needs. So I was trying to figure out if I wanted to get a Les Paul Studio or a Gibson SG Standard. Both are awesome guitars. I've played both and liked them equally well.

I actually didn't get either one! I went to a guitar store that had an Ebony Epiphone Les Paul Custom. It sounded almost as good as a Gibson Les Paul Custom. It was selling for $699 at the store. I went home and checked ebay and found one new for $479. Needless to say...thats what I got. For the price and sound...it's the best I could find anywhere.

Ebony Epiphone Les Paul Custom

I'm going to set it up properly, and if I need too...upgrade some components later on. Can't wait til it gets here.

Nice Kyle! Let me know how you like it once you get the one from ebay. Hopefully it plays as good as the one you tried out.

Looks like a sweet guitar bro. I've played the epiphone standard at my local guitar shop without an amp, it felt great, they are a lot lighter than the real Gibson's that's for sure, great bang for the buck.

Apparently the Epi Elitists are above quality with the Gibson Studios, or so I've heard tongue.gif

Dunno how the Custom rates in all that but it looks pretty sweet! smile.gif

HERE's a good video on a comparison!

It's the standard though...not the custom. But the 2 are very similar. The custom is a step up from the standard.

It's a nice guitar, there's also a model in white, looks similar to buckethead's guitar, and it's really nice too.

I tried one at the local shop the other day, and I liked it.

That was my main guitar for 2.5 years. I think it is a no-brainer in terms of cost benefit. The Gibson Custom for instance is 4x more expensive, but not 4x better...

Really good choice.
