I was wondering if someone could help me out with this. I want to emulate Miyavi's playing style, but I dont know what the hell he's even doing. To see what I mean, check out this video

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ThoGOST-Gw

I'm new to this community, so I was wondering if there was a lesson on how to add procussion to playing?

Just my opinion but I think Bob Brozman makes Miyavi sound like a bag of purple sticks blowing in the wind. That is why I introduce you to the amazing Bob Brozman smile.gif Enjoy!

It is possible - one (but imo not a very good example; just the first I could find on the net) here. Also more acoustic orientated Michael Hedges, Andy McKee and a few others are well worth checking out. I'd say that Andy is much more developed and much more musical then this guy. But that's my opinion biggrin.gif .

Cheers,
Tony

You can do percussion with a pick, too:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UN5U6ppHpgw

Scott Mishoe is the master of slap & pop on an electric though:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f51JgjBZTI4

Check out Don Ross for the percussive funk/urban-based acoustic fingerstyle playing:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PsgKVkTVX_E

Anyway, if you want to learn slap and pop, I reccomend this book by Jean Marc Belkadi, a teacher at MI.

Or if you speak French:

Sorry i have to disagree sad.gif
There's some dudes on youtube that do this style of thing very well but, i thought this was just as sloppy as it gets on guitar.Extremly simple guitar parts along with just snapping finger's and the doesnt even sound like it goes together in key at all just trying to play fast and keep doing a pull off on 3rd fret.

Cant believe this dude made it on tv let alone anything else.Actually i still cant tell if its a guy or a girl huh.gif

Holy hell! Scott Mishoe sounds terrible! Why would anyone want to play like that.

Dan Ross sounds pretty good. Not my bucket of tea though.

Scott is a total master of the technique, as well as virtuoso playing in other areas of guitar technique. That video isn’t very representative of his actual music, but it is interesting to me nonetheless. I don’t think it sounds bad, but the slapping technique certainly shouldn’t stand on its own like that.

+1. Scott is def. a slap and pop master. And I do think his playing is rather clean. And hes not only good at slap/pop but hes also rather good at tapping

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6MOVbaIjZy0

takes 15 seconds for it to start.

And Don Ross is among my favorites with tommy emmanuel smile.gif

Raul Midon is a good one too (even more so considering he's blind):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lIb2mXKKzi8

There he is playing the title track from his album, "State of Mind".

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynk6W3qM9-w

The album is very cool, too.

Oddly enough, I was thinking something about this video clip the other day. But with more traditional right-hand technique
