Hello, I've been practicing sweep picking for the past few months, and before I increase the bpm, I wanna be sure that I'm doing everything right and see if there is room for improvements.

And besides that I've been practicing Gab's two "Power Metal lessons". They're both 150 bpm, but I'm at 130 with them now, so they're not ready for REC atm. And again before I increase the bpm, I wanna know where I can improve smile.gif

Sounds pretty good - listening to 00:22 was especially interesting. With sweeping - more than any other technique - it's easy to completely miss problem areas. So it's always good to do a reality check at a very slow speed.

My goal when playing slow is to never miss more than 0,5% of notes - as this will translate to a clean technique.

I will let Gab comment on his lessons - but one thing I reacted on was the fact you were out of tune on the high notes. I would suggest you try the following

1) make sure you are in tune

2) if you are in tune but high note still sound off - clean your strings. If that does not work change them

3) if thing still sound wrong you must intonate your guitar, always do this with a fresh set of strings.

Hi mate! Cool to find this classic lessons here. smile.gif

Both lessons have clearly two moments: a melodic part where you must focus on vibrato, timing and bending, and a faster part played in 16th notes where the main issue is hand sync, because you are not comfortable playing alternate picking at this tempo. For this reason, I believe that you need to split the lessons work at least in two sections, the slower and the faster. The slower can be played at normal tempo, the faster needs to be practiced at a slower tempo.

When practicing the melodic sections please take in care your vibrato since it tends to be added too soon, making the overall sound like nervous. Also, try to make it grow gradually, and go more natural with the groove of the backing track. Besides this, be careful with the pitch of your bends.

Regarding the faster sections, you need to slow down in order to put both hands in sync when playing alternate picking patterns, and also to see how you can economize movements. You need to make the right hand motion, the smaller possible, I think that it can be a good plan to divide the part in smaller blocks and work as a loop.

Work with these things in mind for a week and share new takes to let me check your progress.
