Hi Ulrik! I'm glad to have news from you again and also to find this song finished! I like the final result. I think that you should record the bass and then let this one rest for some time and start working on new songs. Then, get back to this one to adjust the parts that you would like to change (like the verse and some solo's licks). You should check my next Vchats in which I'm showing how to compose tracks based on your favorite bands/songs. You will surely find ideas and inspiration on them.

Congrats on this song! As I said it earlier, it sounds very original.

Are you working on technique lessons too?

Yes maybe it should rest some more!

I'd like to join the chats, but for some reason I can't get the damn thing working. It is only GMC that gives me this problem.

Hi.

I'm trying to do some more of the exercises you suggested.
My hand will start hurting fast, when I try to reach from 5-9 fret and repeat patterns here. I know this will need more practice, than I have taken the time to.

What do you suggest I practice next:
I want my muting to be better.
And I want my improvising to be a lot better, maybe some more scale lessons?

I know the patterns(boxes) of the pentatonic scales, and I know for example minor and major chords are made out of triads and arpeggios are like splitting up the chords in those notes. But to use it in improvising is something else, I get stuck in the boxes.

I'll record a video of something with palm muting soon

For example this take has some simple muting, but it's hard for me to make perfect.

I can palm mute ok strumming on one string, but when it starts changing faster between the 2 strings it sound wrong, and the muting is not done properly. Maybe this rythm would be a good excercise? I can practice it some days and do another take.

Hi mate! Let's start with Palm Muting. I will assign you a lesson and please practice it with distortion. It's important to practice it with distortion to notice how much you have to mute the strings to get the correct sound.

This is the lesson suggested:

https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/rhythm-gu...c-metal-rhythm/

It's not an easy lesson, and Marcus rhythm is so inspiring because it's so perfect.

Now talking about improvisation... please choose one of the opened collabs to join and let's work on that backing. smile.gif

Killer backing!! Ok! Let's start... the scales that can be used there are E minor or E min blues. We can divide the backing in two, the riffs, and then the 2nd progression. Please start recording some ideas over the first section and post them here.

So I justed spend 20+ minutes with this and I came up with this little melody

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TnPTUEfgme4

And also something more rythmic

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=geaagQJ4GpQ

And some simple tapping

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nz79iNnOTQU

So what do I do to go on now?

Hi mate, could you please put the backing higher? I can't hear it so it's difficult to say how your solos work over it...

Hi mate, the overall idea is cool, I would just adjust some details that will make it even better. It's very important to follow the chords and that the longer notes belong to the chords.... for example, when you play the meloldy, the second phrase keeps on D note while the chord is A, if you switch this note for one of the 3 notes that form A major chord you will notice a cool difference. Review the whole idea checking what's the relationship between the longer notes and the chords... Another cool concepts is the one that a guy in the following video explains that says that you can connect melodic phrases with more technical licks and the overall solo will sound cooler. You don't have to add shred licks if you can't but you can add some cool patterns or rocker licks in between that you can borrow from some GMC lessons...
