Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Hi Siinthd,

Good job here. You can play the whole lesson clean and most of the parts sound tight. There are only a few details to improve in order to get the most of this lesson.

The part that needs more attention is that fast descending passage at 00:19. This is a very tricky passage that requires precise alternate picking technique and hands sync. I recommend you to isolate the part and work on it with metronome. I can help you with some extra exercise for this so write me a PM if you need it.

I also think that you could adjust some of the connections between parts and riffs where I notice small timing issues. Your timing is not bad at all, but I still feel that you could go tighter.

Finally, there is some room to make your vibrato more consistent. The best is to try to emulate Muris vibrato used at the end of riffs and even over some double stops and power chords.

That's all by now, keep on the hard work!

Cool Siinthd, I chose to focus on the speed run and give you some pointers on how to practice it:

This lesson is labelled as level 4 - and I think over all you are on a good track. You get a 7 from me!

Hey there!

First of all you've got an overall point of this lesson (very cool lesson btw). There are some things I was struggling with on how to affect the grade. For example...there is this run at 0:19 that Muris clearly played using some palm muting (besides the fact you had more "mean" attempt to it). I went through all the lesson stuff and it's not pointed in the tabs nor showed in the slow video but if you carefully listen, you'll notice that it sounds best on his main video and it's a mix of palm muting, legato and pinch harmonics. In my opinion that's where it sounds best and definitely worth copying.

I would recommend to recheck the tuning on fretted notes and restretch the strings a few times. Sometimes very little tuning problems appear.

0:29 run is not clean enough

At 0:37 Muris is using different left fingers to play these notes. He keeps hi index and middle free to mute the strings while other two fret and bend the notes. When you learn how to mute unwanted notes with both of your hands, you are able to sound nice and clean even ofn a very high amount of gain.

In general there are some moment of a ver little hand sync issues and a noise that your fingers make but resting on the strings before breaks. Some of them are non-avoidable but overall I believe this could be limited to a lower level.

Above are some of my observations. It doesn't change the fact that you did lot of great work as well. You hands are shaped well, you did some other details precisely and you challenged the double tracking quite nicely. What I mentioned was rather like what to improve to make your take a clean, studio-quality recording, ready to be published on album smile.gif
