GMC Forum _ PRACTICE ROOM _ Tapping Volume

Hey guys
Love the site it rocks!!!

I have a question which has always bothered me when i use the tapping technique,How do i get the tapping to sound as loud as my strumming.
Because i play a killer riff but then when i go into the tapping it is really quiet. Could you help me out..

Practice at tapping harder.

like ezravdb said, you need to practice tapping harder.

Also, maybe a little more gain might help and setting your amp right. If you have your treble set high, then notes on the higher strings and frets might be a bit louder/clearer.

Generally though, practice makes perfect.

. You say that your tapping is really quiet. Do you mean the note after you tap is quiet as well? If so you might not be performing an adequate pull off with your tapping finger. Remember not to just lift your finger off vertically after you've tapped, you need to bend the string slightly so that when you lift your finger (at an angle) it snaps back into position, making the next note sound loud and clear.

I also suspect you would want add soem distortion (as said) - if you play with a decently clean sound and strum very hard you would have to hit the strings very hard to get up to the same volume... >:<
