GMC Forum _ CHILL OUT _ Small Black And Pointy?

Posted by: Todd Simpson Mar 13 2012, 02:30 AM

Here is a picture of a pick I just got today, the Dunlop Tortex Dark 1.14 (It's the small jazz III looking pick) along side the JAZZ II XL (Bigger than the standard Jazz III) and the TORTEX SHARPIE.

If you like TORTEX texture (BEN HIGGINS!) Then these picks might be for you. They are all pointy from the factory and have various sizes/shapes for every hand.

Well, probably a few £'s.. 4 or 5 is my guess, although if you sent it to London I wouldn't get it as I don't live there wink.gif I'm about 100-110 miles west and closer to you ! smile.gif

I honestly can't play on any pick if it doesn't have a pointy edge.... Personal Taste of course.

Hey Todd,

I use a 1.50mm Tortex Sharp, what would be about on par with those by V-Picks? I'm in the mood to try a new brand out.

I went through the same thing, except I used a slightly thinner tortex SHARP. The closest thing is Todd's "Switchblade Buffed" design. Trust me. I ordered about 6-7 diff styles. I'll try to save you the $$ of doing the same!!

The tone is 100x better than tortex. When I switch back, it makes my guitar sound like a toy. V-picks REALLY give you better tone!

I'm the same way on pointy picks smile.gif Once you go pointy and black, you just don't go back!

I'd say your right on that. The SWITCHBLADE BUFFED is as close as it will get but it's a way different pick. Non Tortex, tad chirpy if your not careful, stiff as a board/zero flex. It's not the pick for everyone, but I lOVE them. As DERP says, if you use them right, the tone is GREAT.
