I don't know what prices you have in your local stores, but I definitely recommend trying out Peavey Grind 5 BXP bass if you can find it. Here's the pic:
and the specs: * 35 inch scale * 5-string * 24 frets * Passive humbucking pickups * Mahogany neck with maple stringers * Neck-through-body design * Case not included * Weight Packed: 18.00 lb(8.164 kg) * Width Packed: 6.5"(16.51 cm) * Depth Packed: 52"(132.08 cm) * Height Packed: 19.25"(48.895 cm) I tested this bass guitar and it has not only very good playability, it has great low end, not usually found in it's price range. Something like this should be decent :
http://www.thomann.de/se/fender_squier_del...z_v_bass_bk.htm Also Peavey Millenium AC 5 string (with active electronics!) should be a very good choice! I heard that bass in action and tested it and its a "best buy" for a 5 string, but I don't see it on your web site (I can only find passive electronics version there). -------------------- For GMC support please email support (at) guitarmasterclass.net

it is beautiful and it plays like a dream, super thin neck, LOW action, active BARTOLINI pickups, it's very good!
