Nails: Bite Them Or File Them ?

I saw a fingernail painting conversation happening over in one of Azzaboi's threads between Slavenko and Grace so I thought that this post can't exactly be any weirder... tongue.gif

This might sound a bit strange but I cannot stand having rough fingernails.. or having a fingernail that has a jagged bit missing or sticking out. I used to bite my nails years ago until I managed to stop. Nowadays, I file them to keep them smooth because if I bite them then I can't stop..

How about you ?

One of these manly threads again...lots of testosterone in the air...

Well, I file my nails on a regular basis ( at least once a week). And I painted mine together with Grace last saturday while Todd's chat wasn't working.

I'm definately a biter. C'mon guys just think the shame if someone saw you filing your nails tongue.gif I keep the nails on my fretting hand as short as I can but leave the right hand just a little because if their too short it hurts the tips when fingerpicking with heavy gauge strings on acoustic.

Definitely a biter. Hopefully one day I'll grow out of it but I still catch myself doing it subconsciously.

That thread got started when video chat just died during my sat lesson. Grace said we got so crazy in spots, she just "did her nails" and Christian joined her smile.gif

In all honestly when I was taking classical guitar lessons my instructor taught me all about buffing/shaping your nails as they are used as picks in classical. So I still buff and shape now and then when I'm going to be playing classical.
